Original Plantings - Cabernet 2016

Known for their old vines, these few hand-selected French barrels of DogRidge Cabernet are made exclusively from the pre-clonal Original Plantings at DogRidge from the 1940s.

"Always a joy to see wines given the opportunity to develop some complexity and maturity before release. The colour here is a dark garnet with the nose exhibiting notes of smoked meats, chocolate, coffee grinds and black fruits, along with a touch of cocoa powder. There is plenty of maturity on show here. The structure is of a warm climate Cabernet, seamless and with excellent length. There is fine acidity here and sleek tannins." (Ken Gargett, WinePilot)
